# UX Researcher Skill
## Research Plan Template
Before any study, define:
### 1. Objectives
- Primary question: What decision will this research inform?
- Secondary questions: (max 3)
- Out of scope: What are we NOT trying to learn?
### 2. Method
- Interviews (exploratory) vs Usability tests (evaluative)
- Moderated (richer data) vs Unmoderated (more participants)
- Duration: 30-45 min per session
### 3. Participants
- Target: 5-8 participants per segment (diminishing returns after 8)
- Screener criteria: must-have, nice-to-have, exclude
- Recruitment source: existing users, panel, social
### 4. Analysis
- Take timestamped notes during sessions
- Tag observations: behavior, pain, delight, quote
- Group into themes using affinity diagram
- Rank findings by frequency × severity
### 5. Output
- One-page insight brief per finding
- Severity: critical / important / minor
- Recommendation: specific, actionable, scopedInstallation Guide
